Welcome

Who I Am

I'm Khurram Shroff. For the past 20 years, I've been obsessed with two things: how technology shapes capital flows, and how visionary investors position themselves ahead of macro trends.

My journey began in the ethnic e-commerce space (GoBabu.com, acquired by Buytopia.ca). But in 2011, when most people dismissed Bitcoin as a niche experiment, I saw something different—a monetary revolution that would reshape institutional investing.

That conviction has guided every decision I've made since.

Today, I advise family offices and institutional investors on navigating blockchain technology, cryptocurrency adoption, and the Web3 economy. I speak at leading conferences (Consensus Miami, Bitcoin MENA) on institutional adoption. And I continue to invest in the projects and protocols I believe will shape the next decade of technology.

This is my story. This is why I do what I do.

2011–Present

A 15-Year Conviction: Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Institutional Adoption

2011 · The Pivot

When GoBabu was acquired, I faced a choice: reinvest in traditional e-commerce or bet on Bitcoin. At under $10 per coin, most people thought I was crazy. I bought aggressively.

2015–2018 · Building Conviction Through Cycles

Bitcoin went from $100 to $1,000 to $20,000 to $5,000. Every cycle, people said I'd made a mistake. I continued accumulating. I also began participating in Ethereum's early ecosystem and ICO projects.

2020 · Ethereum 2.0 Genesis Participation

When Ethereum 2.0 Beacon Chain launched, I committed 20,000 ETH to staking. This wasn't speculation—it was belief in the protocol's importance for blockchain's future.

2024–Present · Institutional Recognition

After 15 years, institutions finally understand what early believers have known all along. Family offices are allocating to crypto. Governments are establishing regulatory frameworks. Corporations are adding Bitcoin to treasuries. The macro case for digital assets is undeniable.

What I Believe

Core Convictions

01

Technology adoption follows predictable S-curves

Bitcoin at $10 seemed ridiculous. Bitcoin at $100,000 seems genius. Being early requires tolerance for being wrong for 5–10 years.

02

Institutional capital flows to clarity

The blockchain revolution will be driven by pension funds, family offices, and sovereign wealth funds—not retail speculation.

03

Diversification protects against unknown unknowns

Hedge across Bitcoin, Ethereum, emerging L1s, and infrastructure plays. That is how institutional portfolios are managed.

04

Conviction is rare and valuable

If everyone agrees with you, you're too late. Advantage comes from thesis-driven positions held through skepticism and volatility.

05

Geopolitics shapes technology adoption

Currency debasement, capital controls, and sanctions make alternative monetary networks attractive globally—especially for families in emerging markets.

FAQ

Questions People Ask

How did you get so early into Bitcoin?

When Bitcoin was emerging, I was already thinking deeply about the intersection of technology and capital flows. GoBabu's acquisition gave me capital and the realization that e-commerce was becoming crowded. Blockchain seemed like the next frontier.

Do you still believe in Bitcoin after 15 years?

More than ever. Institutional adoption is just beginning. The macro case—monetary policy, geopolitics, technology adoption—is stronger than in 2011.

What about other cryptocurrencies?

Bitcoin is money. Ethereum is a platform. They serve different purposes. I'm also invested in emerging protocols and infrastructure because that's where innovation happens. Diversification is key.

How do you manage risk with such concentrated positions?

It's not "concentrated" in my mind—it's "strategic." A 15-year conviction with 10+ year holding periods is different from speculation. Risk management comes from custody, diversification across protocols, and understanding macro trends.

Can family offices actually allocate to crypto?

Absolutely. Custody is institutional-grade. Regulatory frameworks are clear. And for families with 10+ year horizons, the return profile is attractive. I help families structure these allocations responsibly.
